This guide directs you to online resources available from
the Mt. Lebanon Public Library Children’s Homepage.
Library Card Number
You need a valid library card number to request and renew books in the online catalog as well as to access online databases from outside the library.
This 14-digit number is below the bar code on the back of your library card.
When prompted, type in the entire number without spaces.
Finding, Renewing, & Requesting Library Materials From Home
· From our homepage, click on Catalog.
· Search by title, author, subject or keyword.
By using the drop down menu you may limit your search to Mt. Lebanon Juvenile (which searches only the collection in the children’s library), All Libraries, or a specific library in Allegheny County.
· Keyword: If you are unsure of an exact title or the exact subject heading, use the keyword search.
· Do not begin a title search with a, an, or the.
· When searching for an author, always type the last name first. For example: Brown Marc
Renewing Materials-
· Click on the MY ACCOUNT button at the top of the catalog screen to review your record and renew your books online.
. You will need your library card number to access this feature.
Requesting Materials-
· Before searching the catalog, choose ALL LIBRARIES from the drop down menu.
· Locate the item you want. If it is available here, call the library and we will hold the item for you. If it is unavailable, click on the request button on the top left of the catalog screen. Follow the prompts that will lead you to the My Account screen to request the item you want.
Electronic Resources / Databases
Use our subscription databases to find full-text magazine and newspaper articles, encyclopedia entries, biographical resources, poetry, photographs and more! Databases provide high quality, concise information not always available on the web. These services are available to you from the Mt. Lebanon Library,the eiNetwork and the State Library of Pennsylvania.
· You will need:
Your current library card number (type in with no spaces)
To make sure cookies are enabled on your browser.
To use the help screens for each database to assist you with your searches.

Middle Search Plus
Full text for over 50 magazines for middle school.
Primary Search
Full text for over 40 magazines for elementary school. Includes World Almanac for Kids and World Almanac of the USA.
Newspaper Source
National, international, and regional newspapers. Includes television and news radio transcripts.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Newsbank
Past issues from 1990.
MasterFILE Premier
Full text for over 2000 general interest publications.
Photographs-
AccuNet/AP Multimedia Archive
Photographs from the Associated Press for the last 150 years.
